Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024

We are so excited to take part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge once again this year! Last year, our wonderful supporters helped us double our efforts to improve access to education for children in Kenya, Uganda and Lesotho. This year our appeal has a particular focus on empowering girls with disabilities through education.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign. For seven days only, this challenge offers our supporters the opportunity to have their donations DOUBLED — and in doing so, make “DOUBLE the difference”!

Our campaign is NOW LIVE and will run until 12pm on Tuesday 10th December 2024. This means together we have 7 days to raise donations and see them DOUBLE for twice the impact through match funding. Every donation you make during this week will be doubled until our match funds are exhausted.

We are truly thankful to all those who donated to our Big Give appeal in 2023. We raised a fantastic £11,243 during the campaign: this meant that we could pay for an incredible 35 children to attend secondary school for a year, making a huge difference to their future life opportunities. 

With our 2024 campaign just around the corner, we are inviting you to help us make TWICE the impact again. Our target this year is £15,000 which would mean that we can pay for the entire secondary education of 15 vulnerable girls or for 8 women to complete a vocational training qualification. Your support will help ensure that these girls and women will not be defined by their disability.

The sad fact is that in poverty-stricken families, girls are overlooked in favour of boys if there is any money at all to send a child to school. Add to this that the girls are living with a disability, and they are often not only overlooked, but tragically hidden away from their local communities due to the shame and stigma on their family of having a disabled daughter. Their prospects of marriage as a means to a secure future are bleak, and without an education they have extremely limited opportunity to keep themselves safe and to raise themselves out of poverty.
