‘Merry Christmas! I am not sure 2020 will go down in history as one of the best years for anyone, but despite the devastating repercussions of the pandemic, there is much to celebrate at Rafiki Thabo – new partnerships, lots of instances where we’ve been able to respond proactively to improve life circumstances and of course, the continued generosity of you, our supporters. A year like this shows more than ever how vital education is – life is unbelievably fragile and without the apparatus of a welfare state, the walk between surviving and being plunged into desperate poverty is a tightrope. The world needs scientists, politicians, medics and engineers, and with your help, hundreds of scholars each year have the opportunity to go out into society and play their part. Thank you – you really are making such a difference.’
