Smiley Charity Film Awards

We are over the moon to be accepted as one of the Smiley Charity Film Awards entries 2025!!

Now we need your help…

  • The first round is public voting, the films with most votes get shortlisted for judges’ scoring. We may be small but with our supporters help we are proven mighty time and time again, so please help us do it once more!
  • Voting opens 20th November and closes 29th January – so…
  • PLEASE vote for our film ‘We hug them’ and ask everyone you know to do so too! Share this page, engage with our social media posts and mention us to anyone who will listen!

WATCH OUR FILM AND VOTE NOW! – it only takes a few seconds!

The Smiley Charity Film Awards is the world’s largest cause-based film campaign, and being shortlisted has the power to launch us onto a huge global platform – which in turn can help us achieve so much more for the children and young people who rely on our support.

  • Since its launch 7 years ago the Smiley Film Awards has generated an astounding 350 million film impressions, with over 2.7million viewers tuning in to their 2024 virtual event
  • And… Entries to the Charity Film Awards are categorised based charity income brackets, creating a level playing field so smaller organisations like Rafiki Thabo Foundation are just as likely to receive an award as the larger, more established ones!

We are feeling both optimistic and very excited as we have entered a wonderful film!

However, it will be down to our supporters and the general public to get us shortlisted! So please…

VOTE NOW!

The shortlisted films will be announced on the 4th February and will enter Judges’ scoring from 5th to 24th February – then… for the lucky winners it is the red carpet treatment at the Award Ceremony on the 20th March! We would love to see our amazing  ‘We hug them’ – Creating brighter futures for children with disabilities in Kenya, on the big screen, please help us get it there!

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

We want to take the opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to Munjiri Videos for our incredibly impactful creation, to our patrons Harry Baker  and Amar Latif  for introducing the film, to our Disability Programme Manager in Kenya, Daina Kibera for presenting, reaching out to and connecting with the staff, parents and scholars you will meet in ‘We hug them’! Just like our small Rafiki Thabo family, this is the result of great teamwork with a shared passion for enabling access to education for children and young people of all abilities.
